The role of the Health Information Department is to maintain Medical Records in a standardized and professional manner in order to protect patient confidentiality.
Transcription, diagnosis coding, and release of information are some of the other major duties performed in the HIM Department. Also, information is gathered and sent to state agencies concerning vital statistics. How do I get a copy of a medical record?
Personal Medical Records are released in accordance with state and federal laws. There is a fee but the fee is waived if records have been requested by your physician.
