Earnestine B. Williams, RD, CDE, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, serves as Director of the Fairfield Diabetes Education Center and Dietary of Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Winnsboro, SC. Ms. Williams received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Winthrop University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She has been a Certified Diabetes Educator for more than 10 years and has extensive dietitian experience in both outpatient and in-patient hospital settings.
“I was born and raised in Fairfield County and know the many health challenges faced by people of our county. Our county is one of the highest in the state for the prevalence of diabetes. My mission is to serve our community with passion and to empower the people to make the right decisions for their health and wellness, “said Earnestine. “I am honored to be recognized by my peers for the award.”
She has established a network of individuals who meet monthly to support the fight against Type 2 diabetes in the community; she is also the Lead lifestyle coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program in Fairfield. Her free, open to the community monthly Diabetic Support Group meetings, have 25-30 members who attend regularly.
Ms. Williams serves as president of the Fairfield County Chapter of Eat Smart, Move More which promotes healthy eating and active living. Along with other committee members she is working to expand the Food Share program in conjunction with the local farmers market. She is also an active member of the South Carolina Diabetes Advisory Council where she serves on Pillar 3, whose goal is to increase participation. As the Director, she oversees the Dietary Department and ensures that in-patients are served the proper meals. She provides dietary consults to all in-patients and those who participate in the Cardiac Rehab program. She is also a transitional care coach in which she conducts home visits.
